  Memory Failure-Tesla recalls 135,000 vehicles over software failures Tesla recalls 135,000 vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Security Administration (NHTSA), due to the touchscreen in these vehicles can fail when a memory chip runs out of storage capacity, which can cause a variety of failures including error in the self-autopilot function. In a mid-January letter, the NHTSA explained to Tesla from the department finding's that the chips are to be blamed for causing failures in the software and needs to be replaced. However according to WSJ, Tesla disagrees that the issue is a failure but ensured by making the automaker recall some number of vehicles for investigating the issue. It is said by the manufacturer that when the touchscreen's flash memory reaches the end of its lifespan, it can cause the center monitor to trigger failures in the software components.
